After five weeks of confirming their relationship, Aespa’s leader Karina and K-drama actor Lee Jae-wook have reportedly ended their romance, according to the Korean news outlet TenAsia.
Although official statements from their respective entertainment agencies have not been issued, sources have verified their breakup through separate declarations.
C-JeS Studios, the agency of Lee Jae-wook, disclosed that the actor opted to terminate the relationship to concentrate on his ongoing projects, stating, “Lee Jae Wook decided on the breakup in order to focus on the project he is currently filming.
“The two decided to remain as colleagues who support each other,” C-JeS Studios stated.
“They will each greet [fans] through good activities from their respective positions going forward. Please show lots of warm interest and support.” the agency added.
Similarly, a source from Karina’s agency, SM Entertainment, affirmed the breakup, stating, “It is true [that] they broke up.”
News of Karina and Lee Jae-wook’s relationship initially surfaced in an exclusive report by Dispatch on February 27.
Their agencies confirmed the reports, remarking that they were “getting to know each other.”
According to Dispatch, their connection began after they attended the Prada Fashion Show during Milan Fashion Week on January 14, where they were spotted sharing a seat and taking endearing pictures that captured fans’ hearts.
Despite their breakup, both remained active on social media platforms. Fans of Aespa, known as MYs, also expressed their support for the K-pop idol.
Addressing the K-pop dating culture, fans emphasized their understanding and encouraged Karina to move forward without feeling compelled to apologize for her personal relationships.
