BLACKPINK has released a new song called “The Girls” for their mobile game, “BLACKPINK The Game.”
The K-pop girl group debuted the music video for “The Girls,” featured on the game’s original soundtrack, on August 25. The song was first made accessible in-game before being made available on YouTube and other streaming services.
The girl group’s in-game avatars are shown performing the choreography in the music video that goes along with it.
Korea Times claims that members Rosé and Jennie also contributed to co-writing and co-composing the song, which is about “the importance of being independent and courageous.”
Takeone Company’s BLACKPINK The Game has a managerial gameplay component in addition to puzzles, mini-games, and other special material.
The group released their new music video together for the first time and gushed over how adorable their cartoon clones are before playing multiple activities as a group.
“The choreo is super cute,” said Lisa of the animated BLACKPINK’s dance number, according to YouTube’s Korean-to-English translation.
“Can we pull that off in real life?” added Rosé.
“The Game” debuted in May, and “The Girls” was supposed to follow soon after. However, the app’s team acknowledged in July that the animated image was still under construction and apologized to fans on Twitter for the “endless and frustrating” wait.
“Our deep desire to present the highest quality of content flawlessly took longer than expected, and therefore, our initial plan to release the M/V simultaneously with the game release was delayed significantly,” the game developers stated.
BLACKPINK has announced that they will be ending their ‘Born Pink’ world tour with a two-night concert in Seoul this September. YG Entertainment revealed on August 24 that the show will happen in Gocheok Sky Dome, which will make BLACKPINK the first girl group to hold a concert at that venue. – Klife/Zain
