bts boy with luv reaches 1 7 billion views in youtube

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — BTS has hit 1.7 billion views on their “Boy With Luv” music video, becoming 2nd K-pop boy group to do such a feat.

At approximately 8:19 p.m. on August 21 KST, BTS’s smash song “Boy With Luv” (featuring Halsey) music video on YouTube achieved 1.7 billion views!

After “Dynamite,” this is the group’s second music video to accomplish this accomplishment and the second music video featuring a Korean boy group to do so.

Boy With Luv was originally released on April 12, 2019, making it take four years, four months, and nine days to reach 1.7 billion viewers.

In addition, “Boy With Luv” has surpassed 1.7 billion total views, passing PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Kill This Love,” and BTS’s very own “Dynamite.” The achievement shows that Boy With Luv is the fifth K-pop song to secure such an impressive view count of a milestone

The song gained popularity after peaking at No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles list, remaining there for eight weeks, and being played more than 1 billion times for the first time in Korean on Spotify, the biggest streaming service in the world. The song is a part of BTS’s MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA mini album, which debuted in April 2019.

Boy with Luv (featuring Halsey) earned BTS their fourth BRIT gold certification on August 4th, an award given to songs that have sold 400,000 records.

This song joins Dynamite, My Universe, and Butter as BTS’s first Korean-language single to receive gold certification and its fourth overall.

On the YouTube site, the song garnered notable titles as well. Boy with Luv achieved three achievements on the first day of its release: it was the most-watched YouTube video in a 24-hour period, the most-watched YouTube music video in a 24-hour period, and the most-watched YouTube music video by a K-pop group. All of these achievements were acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records. – KLife/Zain
