Choi Siwon of Super Junior has addressed recent accusations related to his alleged participation in coin fraud through a formal statement on Wednesday, February 12.

Recently, concerns about a corporation that purportedly sold coins using the announcement of their company’s public offering as bait have been raised, raising suspicions of a “scam coin.”

Suspicions were raised over Choi Siwon’s role in the coin fraud when it was mentioned that the Korea Youth Committee’s Youth Pay and a few other people were implicated.

Choi Siwon vehemently denied the rumors in a statement posted on his community YouTube channel.

“Hi, this is Siwon Choi.

I wish to express explicitly that I have no involvement with regard to the controversy surrounding the Korea Youth Committee’s Youth Pay. Furthermore, I have never been appointed as an ambassador for the Korea Youth Committee’s Youth Pay. While I have received an award at a ceremony organized by the Korea Youth Committee, this was in recognition of setting a good example for the youth, as intended by the committee, and is unrelated to the current controversy.

I want to make it clear that I have had no involvement in the Korea Youth Committee’s Youth Pay or any individual’s political activities.”

Those who have also expressed doubts about the controversy include YouTuber Oh King, comedians Kim Won-hoon and Jo Jin-se, broadcaster Ra Seon-wook, and former soccer player Lee Cheon-soo. However, the authorities in the purported scam have not yet provided any official confirmation or proof.

Following Choi Siwon’s resolute denial that he was involved in the purported scam, fans flocked to his defense on social media. “Siwon?” a person on X said. Siwon? “Leave him alone; he’s the most upright idol there is,” someone else pleaded. “I just know they’re lying on him,” said someone else.
