fans point out billboard error puts slow dancing by bts vs back on the charts

“Slow Dancing” by V is back on the top 10 of the Global Excl. U.S. Billboard charts after fans notice an error.

Fans started to notice that something was wrong when all of V’s songs from his solo debut album called “Layover” were present in the charts except for “Slow Dancing.” The Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart lists songs based on their streaming and sales activities in over 200 territories except the United States.

Fans banded together and pointed out the error to Billboard, who then revised the chart, which now includes V’s “Slow Dancing” at number 9.

“Slow Dancing” topped the charts at third in the previous week but was dropped in the following week, leading fans to be suspicious of the list.

Fans expressed disdain and criticism for “Slow Dancing” not making the charts, sharing their sentiments on X (formerly Twitter). Fans were expressive on X and tagged Billboard to clear the error, citing that songs on the Top 10 had fewer streams than “Slow Dancing.” Some fans even suspected untrustworthy practices to negatively impact the singer’s placement on the charts.

In the original chart published by Billboard, “Greedy” by Tate McRae was in the ninth spot, and “Prada” by cassö, RAYE, and D-Block Europe was in the tenth spot. “Greedy” is on the tenth spot, and “Slow Dancing” is ranked ninth on the chart.

Billboard states, “Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflects purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations”.

After Billboard published the revised charts, fans were happy that their concerns were taken into consideration, and Billboard released a revised chart where “Slow Dancing” earned its spot ranking at ninth. However, many fans still speculate that foul play was involved in this week’s Global Excl. U.S. charts.
