Jessi made a bold statement regarding fashion on the Mnet variety program ‘KStar Next Door 3’ that aired last November 7, 2023.
Jonathan, the show’s host, read Jessi’s artist profile and discussed various comments related to her image, using phrases such as “a real thug”, “sexy thug”, and “brutal thug”, among others. Her hit songs contributed to her strong image, Jonathan explained.
Additionally, Jonathan inquired about the phrase “sexy thug.” Jessie responded, explaining that while everyone has a different perception of her, she does not agree. “How can we always be sexy? But my mind is sexy,” she stated. As Jessi replied, the host presented a collage of Jessi’s provocative photos.
Upon seeing the pictures, she remarked, “Indeed, that’s quite sexy,” and went on to clarify, “Folks, being sexy isn’t about dressing in revealing clothes like these. I sported these outfits in Korea for the water bomb festival. They’re not suitable for a college event. However, they’re just right for the water bomb festival, which is why I chose to wear them.”
Jessi continued, “Here’s the thing. Why can men go shirtless and show their nipples, but not women? Why can’t women dress like this? It’s the same thing. So, I thought, ‘Whatever,’ and wore them. But that’s only when I perform. I don’t dress like this normally.”
Moreover, Jonathan stated that many people value Jessi for her candid honesty. He also touched upon Jessi’s smoking habits and her decision to have plastic surgery. Jessi finds dishonesty about these topics amusing. She asserted, “I got this done.’ I’m not saying that. If I get something (plastic surgery) done and go on TV, my face looks different. But if I were to say, ‘No, it’s just makeup,’ bwargh, That’s cringy. I know a lot of people who do that.”
Jessi claimed that idols often deny smoking, but are frequently caught in the act. If the media exposes them, they face even more criticism. She further added, “Of course, smoking is not good. But I say it straight up.”
The artist made a comeback on October 25 with her new single “Gum.”
