YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group, BABYMONSTER, returns as a complete unit and made their long-awaited comeback with their first mini album, “BABYMONS7ER,” featuring the track “SHEESH.”
The K-pop group dropped late Sunday its first extended play (EP), marking the K-pop girl group’s first release with all seven members
Ahyeon, who could not participate in the group’s debut and their second single release due to health reasons, has rejoined the group, marking her much-anticipated return.
Additionally, they released their single “Butter Up” without Ahyeon, who couldn’t take part due to health concerns.
Previously, Yang characterized “Sheesh” as a hip-hop song with a darker element, a departure from BABYMONSTER’s previous style.
The EP also features “Like That,” a track donated by American singer Charlie Puth, along with updated versions of previous singles “Butter Up” and “Stuck in the Middle,” now including Ahyeon.
It’s worth mentioning that TREASURE’s Choi Hyun Suk contributed to both the music and lyrics of “SHEESH.”
Responses are pouring in following the release of BABYMONSTER’s eagerly awaited new song.
Moreover, many internet users on a discussion platform shared diverse perspectives regarding BABYMONSTER’s recent song, music video, and choreography for “SHEESH.”
Within hours of its release, this music video has accumulated nearly 10 million views, with over 600 comments from Korean internet users on a single online forum posted past midnight.
However, numerous individuals compared them to BLACKPINK, because of their concepts, camera angles, outfits, and effects.
While others preferred the rookie group’s earlier release, “Butter Up.”
Despite the varied reactions, appreciation for the choreography and unique hook surfaced, with some describing the release as “surpassing expectations.”
There was a significant split in opinions regarding the song’s atmosphere and the music video’s visual style, with internet users feeling that it “did not showcase any advancement from the typical YG style.”
However, more favorable comments focused on the individual members’ skills, particularly in rap and dance.
