Lisa of BLACKPINK is rumored to be joining the cast of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” a spin-off of the “The Walking Dead,” an American post-apocalyptic television series.
Lalisa Manobal, also known as LISA, is a Thai singer, rapper, dancer and model based in South Korea. She is the youngest member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, which debuted under YG Entertainment in August 2016.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s debut album “Lalisa” was record-breaking, being the fastest-selling album by a South Korean female artist and achieving the most views in 24 hours on YouTube. Both songs “Lalisa” and “Money” charted in Billboard Global 200’s top ten, with “Money” being the longest-charting song by a female K-pop soloist in the US and UK. Both songs reached 1 billion Spotify streams, a first for a K-pop solo artist.
Following YG Entertainment’s agreement with BLACKPINK for group-only activities, doors have been opened for individual members to pursue their own projects with different agencies. This has sparked rumors that Lisa may be joining ‘The Walking Dead’. According to AMC’s official website, “The Walking Dead is about a group of survivors navigating the zombie apocalypse. Despite some critical opinions suggesting a decline in quality, it remains one of the most popular television shows, as stated by Screenrant.
Vogue Thailand reported that suspicions were raised when the official Instagram account of the popular zombie series started following the BLACKPINK member. It was subsequently disclosed that the show’s production had commenced filming in Paris.
Furthermore, On November 28, Lisa and her friend, actor Norman Reedus, attended the Paris-Saint-Germain vs. Newcastle United Champions League match. After the match, “The Walking Dead” official Instagram account and Norman Reedus started following Lisa.
Fans shared their reactions to the rumor. One commented, “How would Lisa joining the cast of The Walking Dead be a triumph for Korea? She’s Thai. Also, Steven Yeun, who’s Korean-born, already had an iconic role on the main series. Anyway, good luck to her. It will be interesting to see where her career goes now that she’s free from YG.”
Another one said that they did not know that the TV show is still running. They stopped watching after Glenn Rhee, a character played by Steven Yeun, died in Season 7.
One user also commented, “Just because they follow each other on Insta and met on a football game, doesn’t mean they’re close friends. Even IF she will have a role, it’s going to be a cameo. AMC needs some attention because there’s like 10 TWD spinoff already and basically no one watching them.😅”
While rumors are swirling about BLACKPINK’s Lisa potentially joining the cast of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” there has been no official confirmation.
