IU and Park Bo-gum’s upcoming drama ‘What Life Gives You Tangerines’ is going to be streamed on Netflix announced on Wednesday, January 31.

According to Netflix’s drama synopsis, the forthcoming series narrates the escapades of Ae-sun, recognized as ‘the remarkable rebel,’ and Gwan-sik, nicknamed ‘unyielding iron,’ in Jeju Island. The storyline encompasses Gwan-sik’s enduring affection for Ae-sun since their youth. The drama’s title, translating to “thank you for your hard work,” serves as a tribute to the Jeju dialect.

The project garnered considerable attention and excitement following the announcement of IU and Park Bo Gum being chosen as the primary lead actors.

Renowned for her versatile performances in dramas such as ‘My Mister’ and ‘Hotel Del Luna,’ along with films like ‘Broker’ and ‘Dream,’ IU reunites with director Kim Won Seok.

IU, who debuted as a solo singer with the album “Lost and Found” in 2008, shot to stardom after making a hit with her song “Good Day” (2010). She has built a successful music career, releasing a string of hit songs, including “Red Shoes” and “Twenty-Three.” She made her way into acting after landing a lead role in the teen series “Dream High” in 2011 and has been starring in various films and series, including the comedy series “The Producers” (2015) and the drama film “Broker” (2022).

Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum, known for his diverse projects including ‘Record of Youth,’ the film ‘Seo Bok,’ and the musical ‘Let Me Fly,’ embodies the character of Kwan Sik, displaying a resolute and unwavering demeanor that relies more on actions than words. Kwan Sik is characterized by sincerity, steadfast gentleness, and an enduring affection for Ae Soon since their childhood.

Netflix intends to globally release the Korean series in 190 countries later this year, although the exact launch date has not been disclosed.
