Red Velvet is set to make waves once again as they prepare for the release of their long-awaited 3rd full-length album in November. SM Entertainment confirmed the news on September 18, marking the quintet’s return to the music scene after a year-long hiatus.
RV fans, known as ReVeluvs, have been eagerly awaiting this announcement, as it has been six years since their last full-length album, ‘Perfect Velvet,’ was released in November 2017. The group’s consistent growth and undeniable talent have kept their global fan base engaged throughout their career.
Red Velvet, composed of members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri, has become a household name in the K-pop industry since their debut in 2014. Their repertoire includes a string of hit songs like ‘Ice Cream Cake,’ ‘Dumb Dumb,’ ‘Russian Roulette,’ ‘Rookie,’ ‘Red Flavor,’ ‘Peek-a-boo,’ and ‘Power Up.’ Their unique ability to seamlessly blend the ‘Red’ and ‘Velvet’ concepts has solidified their position as one of the industry’s most versatile and iconic girl groups.
This news comes at a time when fans were anxiously speculating about the group’s future amidst disbandment rumors. Notably, Irene and Seulgi have been at the center of contract renewal speculations, with Seulgi renewing her contract with SM Entertainment in August 2023.
Their last release, ‘The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday,’ in November 2022, was a mini-album featuring tracks like ‘Birthday,’ ‘BYE BYE,’ and ‘ZOOM.’ The group’s global presence was reaffirmed when they embarked on their “R to V” world tour, which included a memorable visit to the Philippines in May.
Red Velvet’s upcoming full-length album is highly anticipated, as it promises to deliver a fresh wave of music that will showcase the group’s growth and evolution over the past year. As November approaches, fans worldwide are counting down the days until they can once again enjoy the musical genius of Red Velvet.
