Irene’s contract with SM Entertainment was renewed, the company stated on Wednesday, February 7, on the basis of trust.

Irene stated, “I reaffirmed my trust because of SM Entertainment, who helped shape who I am now, and the company’s employees, with whom I have collaborated since my launch. This year, I hope to wow the members with a variety of activities while also feeling appreciation for the supporters of Red Velvet who never stop supporting us.”

“We renewed our contract with Irene following [the contract renewal with] Seulgi based on mutual trust and partnership,” SM Entertainment revealed. Please continue to show her a lot of love and support as we will assist her in many ways to enable her to grow as a worldwide artist.

Irene has played a crucial role in Red Velvet’s success ever since she made her group debut in 2014 with the release of their first song, Happiness. Numerous hits, such as “Peek-A-Boo,” “Psycho,” “Feel My Rhythm,” and others have been released by Red Velvet. Their third full-length album, “Chill Kill,” was released in conjunction with their most recent comeback.

Subsequent to a comparable renewal with fellow Red Velvet singer Seulgi, SM Entertainment also declared the extension of their agreement and collaboration with Irene.

SM Entertainment emphasized the importance of mutual confidence and teamwork and pledged to assist Irene in her aspirations so that she can further establish herself as a global artist. The organization also thanked the supporters and urged them to keep their love and interest in Irene’s next endeavors.

Red Velvet made their stage debut on August 1, 2014, consisting of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy. In March 2015, they added Yeri to their roster after releasing their first extended play, Ice Cream Cake.

The group’s musical style is as varied as their name suggests; its velvet side explores R&B, ballads, and hip hop with influences from the ’90s, while their more pop red side works with techno and funk elements.

Red Velvet has received critical accolades throughout their career for its engaging hooks and ability to work in a variety of genres.
