Korean singer Park Bo Ram, known for her participation in the audition show “SuperStar K2” in 2010 and later on debut in 2014, tragically passed away at the age of 30.
Details surrounding her passing are currently under investigation by the police, who are determining the cause of death.
Her agency, Xanadu Entertainment, released a statement on April 11 confirming her death.
“We are sharing sad and heartbreaking news. Late at night on April 11, Park Bo-ram suddenly left us,” the agency said.
“All of our fellow artists and employees at Xanadu Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness. It is even more heartbreaking to deliver the sudden news to fans who support Park Bo-ram.”
“We earnestly ask that you refrain from making speculative reports so that the grieving family and colleagues can commemorate the deceased. Funeral procedures will be held after consultation with the bereaved family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased on her final journey,” the agency added.
Park Boram appeared on Mnet’s ‘Superstar K2’ in 2010 and debuted with her 2014 hit ‘You’ve Become Pretty’.
At the time of her debut, her 30kg weight loss garnered much attention and made her famous.
Park Bo-ram released a duet song with singer Huh Gak last February to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her debut this year.
She was also known for being the voice behind soundtracks of several hit Korean series, including “Hyehwa-dong” from “Reply 1988” (2015), “Please Say Something, Even Though It Is a Lie” from “W” (2016); and “Like A Dream” from “Prison Playbook” (2017).
Before her death, Park was reportedly gearing up for a comeback, which would also celebrate the 10th anniversary of her debut.
She released her new song ‘I Miss You Already’ on the 3rd of April, but her sudden death shocked everyone.
Condolence to the bereaved family of Park Bo Ram!
