Korean agency YG Entertainment has disclosed that each member of the K-pop group BLACKPINK will independently handle their own endeavors rather than being under the management of the company.

“YG recently signed an extension contract for BLACKPINK’s group activities and agreed not to proceed with a separate additional contract for individual activities,” the agency announced on Dec. 29.

“We will do our best to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will cheer for the individual activities of the members with a warm heart.” they added.

This signifies that, for activities related to the group, BLACKPINK members Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé will remain under the management of YG Entertainment. The attempts to reach individual contracts with the members seem to have been unsuccessful.

Earlier, Jennie had revealed the commencement of her new venture with her personal label, OA (ODD ATELIER).

“This is Jennie. This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received,” she said.

“I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, BLACKPINK. Thank you. @oddatelier.” she added.

The other BLACKPINK members have not disclosed detailed plans for their individual activities in 2024. According to industry insiders, Lisa is reportedly in negotiations with an international agency for a contract, and Jisoo is exploring opportunities to further advance her acting career.

Last Dec. 6, YG Entertainment said, “After careful discussions with BLACKPINK, we have signed an exclusive contract for the group activities based on deep trust.”

But it said that “contracts for individual activities are being negotiated.”

The announcement states that collectively as BLACKPINK, the group will unveil a new album and embark on a global tour. This implies that Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé of BLACKPINK will exclusively be managed by YG Entertainment for activities related to the group.
