Yoo Teo will be joining the cast for Netflix’s ‘The Recruit’ Season 2 as Jang Kyun, a clever and driven South Korean NIS agent.

According to IMDb, ‘The Recruit’ follows a CIA lawyer who gets involved in a dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency.

In the second season, Owen finds himself in South Korea confronting a much larger threat. This suggests a potential shift in the show’s narrative, expanding its scope beyond the CIA to incorporate views from international intelligence agencies.

Yoo Teo previously starred in Park Chan Wook’s ‘Decision to Leave’ which was nominated for Palme d’Or in 2022. He also starred in other Palme d’Or nominees, ‘Leto’ and ‘Black Money’. His TV shows include Apple TV+’s ‘Dr Brain’ and ‘Vagabond’. His compelling role in ‘Past Lives’ demonstrated that he is a rising star in the entertainment world.

On December 19, local media stated that Yoo Teo will star as the lead in Netflix’s ‘The Recruit’ Season 2. He is described as a “highly skilled agent with a subversive sense of humor and willing to go to any lengths to protect those he cares about”. The addition of Yoo Teo to Season 2 brings a new dimension to the series’ narrative.

“The Recruit” Season 1 kicked off with Owen stumbling upon a letter from ex-asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock) during his initial week at work. The letter threatened to unveil the agency’s confidential information unless her serious criminal charges were absolved. As Owen strives to accomplish his task and establish his presence at the CIA, he finds himself entangled in a perilous realm of influential politics and individuals.

IGN described Season 1 of ‘The Recruit’ as requiring “some patience in its dense story and watching Centineo constantly being put through the wringer, but it definitely manages to scratch that spy thriller itch.”
