A fresh teaser and poster were revealed on February 1, Thursday, for “My Name is Loh Kiwan,” confirming the film’s scheduled premiere on March 1.
Adapted from Jo Hae Jin’s novel “I Met Loh Kiwan” (literal title), “My Name is Loh Kiwan” narrates the tale of the encounter, separation, and romance involving Loh Kiwan (played by Song Joong Ki), a North Korean defector seeking refuge in Belgium as his final lifeline, and Marie (portrayed by Choi Sung Eun), a woman who has lost her will to live.
The recently unveiled poster illustrates Loh Kiwan navigating through a crowd in an unfamiliar land. In the midst of strangers, Loh Kiwan exhibits determination through a steady and resolute gaze.
The accompanying text, “I have chosen to endure in this foreign land,” emphasizes the challenging path he undertakes as he travels to Belgium in search of hope, marking his final opportunity for a better life.
Song Joong Ki has portrayed a diverse range of characters in various television series, including “The Innocent Man” (2012), “Descendants of the Sun” (2016), “Arthdal Chronicles” (2019), “Vincenzo” (2021), and “Reborn Rich” (2022). Additionally, he has made a mark in successful films such as “A Werewolf Boy” (2012), “The Battleship Island” (2017), and “Space Sweepers” (2021).
Song earned Gallup Korea’s Television Actor of the Year accolade in both 2012 and 2017. He made his debut in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2013, securing the seventh position, and later achieved the second rank in 2017 and seventh in 2018. The international success of his television series and films has firmly established him as a prominent Hallyu star in the Korean entertainment industry.
