The popular Netflix series released the initial images from its eagerly awaited second season today, February 2, slated for a release in 2024.

In “Squid Game 2,” Sung Ki Hoon (portrayed by Lee Jung Jae) decides against accompanying his daughter to the United States, opting instead to pursue personal objectives connected to the lethal game he emerged victorious from in Season 1.

Apart from the main character Ki Hoon, the recently revealed images from the upcoming season also feature the secretive Front Man (Lee Byung Hun) without his mask, alongside the enigmatic Salesman (Gong Yoo), who recruited Ki Hoon in Season 1.

A concluding photograph introduces a fresh character (portrayed by Park Gyu Young), indicating her recruitment as a new participant in the Squid Game.

Upon its initial launch, “Squid Game” emerged as a worldwide sensation, distinguishing itself as the most-watched series on Netflix, attracting an impressive audience of over 142 million individuals and accumulating an astonishing 1.65 billion viewing hours.

This Korean drama garnered widespread praise for its enthralling storyline and compelling characters, captivating a global audience. “Squid Game” unravels a secretive competition where 465 participants, all grappling with significant financial hardships, willingly put their lives on the line in a series of childhood games, all for the chance to win the coveted 45.6 billion KRW prize.

Behind the scenes, the creator of “Squid Game,” Hwang Dong-hyuk, is set to return as both the writer and director. He has previously earned an Emmy award for outstanding directing.

The release date for “Squid Game” Season 2 has not been announced. However, Netflix provided a sneak peek as part of a comprehensive preview of its 2024 film and television lineup, assuring viewers that the new episodes will premiere before the year concludes.
